Christmas in Australia at the Oldroyds

Our little flat looks quite festive. The "big" tree rests on the air conditioner and if the air conditioner is on we can't plug in the lights. We have a very small tree on the telephone desk by the TV that works in a similar fashion. If the TV is on you can't plug the lights in or the reception on the TV goes haywire!! Ahhhh! Life in the missionfield. I am amazed at how hectic it gets even for missionaries at Christmastime. The seniors have scheduled themselves with too many parties to keep us from getting homesick and now we are all complaining!!! Maybe we would rather be homesick.

Train Trip Home

The train trip was rather boring and sleepless as it rattled and rumbled along the tracks. The food was reasonable but not quite the gourmet dining that was described in the brochure. The scenery was really boring the 2nd day. Much like the Utah desert only red dirt.

the sunsets were beautiful. They offered camel rides along the beach just before sunset. We opted to just take the pictures of the camels after the ride. I kept saying to myself, "Where is my swimsuit when I need it?" The dirt in Broome is very red in color but the sand was white.

Broome, Western Australia

The first night in Broome we stayed at the Cable Beach Resort. It was too expensive and the room was not that great so we checked out and spent the rest of the time in the Blue Seas Resort. Our room was a suite at the Blue Seas and we had a kitchen, washer and dryer. However, the ambiance of the Calbe Beach Resort could not be beat.

Church was small but the Spirit was strong. They held a three hour block meeting even though the numbers were few and the Primary consisted of two children. They played with matchbox cars for Primary.
